About Muslim for a Month

Muslim for a Month is a Blood Foundation cultural exchange and spiritual development program operated with Belgesel Ajans and hosted by Islamic scholars and peace activists in Istanbul, Turkey.

The intention of the program is to foster a spirit of good will and increased mutual understanding between Muslims and the west. It is not the purpose of the program to bring converts to the Islamic faith but rather to strive towards a greater sense of unity among people.

Blood Foundation

Blood Foundation is a growing movement that seeks to promote the ideal of the sister/brotherhood of all humanity. We operate cultural exchange programs that build bridges of understanding between diverse peoples through the means of shared, authentic experience.

These ideals motivate the development work we do providing relief, education and advocacy for the disempowered. Blood Foundation runs development projects and schools for migrants and refugees living along the Thai-Burma border.

Host organisation: Belgesel Ajans

Founded in 1998, The Belgesel Agency is a media and events company which aims to operate projects that establish intercultural dialogue and community cohesion.

The Belgesen Agency is involved with organised tours and handles travel arrangements for incentive groups, conferences and V.I.P groups from around the world. They aim to establish bridges between countries, cultures and civilization.

The Program

Now Blood Foundation and Belgesel Ajans welcome you to Istanbul, Turkey for the experience of a lifetime. Immerse yourself in Sufi spirituality, gain a deeper appreciation of one of the world’s great faiths and experience the true warmth of Turkish hospitality.

Living in a historic Sufi Lodge near the walls of the ancient city, whilst on the programs you will experience an amazingly rich assortment of activities. You’ll spin with the Whirling Dervishes, sing with the choir, dive into the mystic love poems of Rumi and dwell in one of the world’s greatest cities from a unique and privileged insiders perspective.

Spiritual Director and Host

Blood Foundation and Belgesel Ajans have appointed Dr. Ahmet  Muharrem  Atlig (Theologian) as the Spiritual Director and Host of the program. Dr. Atlig was ordained as an Imam in 1989, before starting his graduate studies in the U.S. where he also taught religious studies in high schools for six years. He was the Imam of New Peckham Mosque in London for 5 years and completed his PhD in philosophy in Ireland in 2007. He is responsible for the day to day running of each program.
